It’s #ThrowbackThursday….. And we’re throwing it back (with a football in hand) to 2019 and 2014. Check out the great plays, intense tackles, and incredible catches at both of these games against the Vincent Massey Trojans.
The #CRU championed the Anavets Bowl in 2019 with a 22-0 win. In 2014, our team was “Playing for a Purpose,” which raised funds and awareness for MS.
And, even though our boys can’t compete today - we’re training, ready, and resilient.

Another #Throwback classic here. Check out this two-page spread in the 1948 edition of “The Crusader” newspaper, Volume 8, No 1.
“This isn’t just another football game – it’s a game which has gathered many of the old clan from St. Paul’s together so that they can give vent to their pent-up youthful urge to hoot and holler the Maroon and White on to victory and success. Win, lose or draw, the evening will be worthwhile if only for the memories it invokes.” – Don Leydon, Crusader Vol 8 No 1
And check out that programme, Refreshments, Football, Dinner & Dance - what an affair.
Explore this online exhibit that highlights an era that encompasses the origins of the football program, years of victory or loss, and decades of rebuilding. Through this history, the foundations and traditions of Crusaders Football are revealed. If you’d like to contribute your football memories to the Archive, please contact archivist Samantha Eadie at sphsarchives@stpauls.mb.ca.
