St Paul's initiated the Ignatian Challenge Awards in 1994 in order to recognize individuals within our community who embrace the ideals of St Ignatius Loyola and who reflect the characteristics and qualities inherent in a Jesuit education at St Paul's High School. Award recipients, through their leadership and commitment to service, become examples for our students of a lived faith and philosophy of becoming men and women for others. The awards are bestowed annually at the St Paul's High School Tribute Dinner.

St Paul's President Fr Alan Fogarty SJ is pleased to announce that Dr Peter MacDonald ‘76, internationally recognized as one of the foremost orthopedic surgeons, is the 2010 Ignatian Challenge Award Honouree. "It is a great pleasure to have Dr MacDonald as our 2010 Honouree. Dr MacDonald’s reputation as a world class surgeon and his impact on the medical community locally, nationally and internationally is a true testament to his passion and brilliance in his field" said Fr Fogarty this February.

The proceeds of the annual Tribute Dinner support the Bursary Fund, an essential aspect of a Jesuit education at St Paul's High School. Proceeds from this year’s event will support the newly established D.I. & Peggy MacDonald Bursary, a fund created in honour of Dr MacDonald’s parents.
